The SATREPS seminar (2nd) held
The second SATREPS seminar was held at Nagasaki University on November 12th. The seminar was held with both in-person and remote participation. Assistant Professor Helen JULIAN from Bandung Institute of Technology and Professor Fujioka (Nagasaki University) gave lectures.
Professor JULIAN introduced membrane distillation technology, such as concentrating juice, extracting dye components from spices, and developing membrane distillation materials for seawater desalination.
Professor Fujioka introduced the activities, results, and goals of this project being carried out in Japan and Vietnam. He explained that direct nanofiltration can be operated continuously in an immersion system with low permeation flow rate, combined with sponge washing on the membrane surface, and that although frequent sponge washing on the membrane surface remains an issue, the feasibility can be improved by improving the membrane to reduce membrane fouling.
During the question-and-answer session, questions were asked from the Vietnamese side and opinions were exchanged with the professors.
The first seminar was held last year, and this was an opportunity to present the results so far one year after the first seminar, and it was a seminar that further encouraged future activities.
